: I only asked because I'd seen 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'Day of the Dead' and thought there was a bit of a message with each of them, there is also a lot of cold war paranoia in those films about the effects of nuclear after math if you ask me, I think too there's a weird very American idea that it's great fun to kill zombies because it's like killing people but with no remorse.
But that's the best thing about zombies! They have no minds and feel no pain, and they blow up real good when you blast them! Watching decaying walking corpses get shot to pieces is one of life's guilty pleasures.

It's a horror movie, not a feel-good movie. However, it does have a more modern portrayal of women as more than just victims who fall down every few feet while they're running away, plus a good twist at the ending, plus a quite pointed social statement at the very end, i.e., who are the real monsters?
