: SDF: Yikes! First MDG says

: : : : It's a long road between now and November 7th, Election Day. If Ralph Nader can manage to get on enough state ballots, and if he can manage to get into the national debates, I might vote for him yet.

[snip, snip, Joel Kovel!, snip]

: then MDG says:

: : Staying within the context of the capitalist democracy we inhabit now, there are two avenues to the change you seek, comrade:

: : 1) Pass legislation mandating equal pay regardless of gender or color or [fill in the blank]; and

: : 2) Eliminate sexism and racism in the hearts and minds of our fellow man.

: : With regard to the first, I think that Nader, and even the Dems, would be more willing to champion such legislation than the Republicans. With the latter, that will be a significant challenge no matter what system you live under.

Yikes! Where's the contradiction, SDF? First I say that I might vote for Nader, then I say that Nader would be more likely than Gore or Bush to enforce gender equality legislation. Yikes?

If you don't like my pointing out the way things are right now, then you're living in a protective bubble where you dream of President Kovel but ignore what you can do in the meantime to improve things, even if it means working within the system. You can do both, as I've pointed out many times.

As for Kovel, I like him, but if there's anything the underclass, working stiffs, and exhausted middle classers like less than pampered college students who don't know what it's like to work for a living telling them what to do, it's their even more pampered college professors who preach equality and justice from the comfy halls of academia.
