: : I think it hilarious that this Frenchy character...

: I'll give Frenchy credit for one thing.

: He posts under his own name.

Really? As far as I knew, his real name was Normand (hence the 'Frenchy' bit - I've never met anyone with the actual name 'Frenchy')

: Everyday he opines what he thinks---without subterfuge.

This isn't necessarily a virtue; so does a three-year-old; and debating with three-year-olds isn't very rewarding.

Frenchy may indeed say exactly what he thinks (on a repeated basis); but he makes no attempt to understand his opponent (see his laughably simplistic categorisation of everyone who disagrees with him as 'Communist') - and whenever anyone comes up with something he can't answer, he ignores it and starts dredging up more newspaper articles to quote verbatim.

It's very similar to trying to argue with someone sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting "I can't hear you!".

: Find a point to debate, anonymous, or get lost. There's something pathological about you.

Barry, that's a bit harsh, surely; people use this room under the tacit understanding that they can use their real names, or they can use a pseudonym if they prefer.

I, for example, do both; post both as Gideon Hallett (when I want to be serious and earnest) and as Farinata (originally chosen as a pseudonym for religious debates on the Anything Else room; but a useful 'nym; the eternal heretic). I've never made any attempt to hide my double identity in my four years here on McSpot's Debating Rooms; neither have I ever made much noise about it. Farinata is just the name I use when I don't mind getting my hands dirty.

Pseudonyms have their place, just as real names do; while I might personally feel that personal abuse is unhelpful and surplus to requirements, there's nothing inherently shameful in a pen-name.

Farinata.
