Exactly, MDG. I don't know where you stand exactly, but we agree on this one. I've said here already that more has to be done. I'm all for organizing and educating and offering people alternatives, but it ain't gonna happen this time around. Does that mean I, or anyone else, should stop working for it? Of course not. But it also doesn't mean that I'm going to turn my back on what is happening, either.
Bush is on record as saying that the Supreme Court justice he likes the most is Scalia, and his second favorite is Thomas. I will not turn my back on that. While it's all well and good to talk about a one party system, there are some differences. Not in economic matters, for the most part, but there are some, and anyone who pays attention knows that. Think Social Security would be privatized by now if Dole had won and had a Republican congress?
It's good to keep your eyes on the prize, SDF, but it's not so good to ignore what is going on around you. It's kind of like saying, with righteous indignation, "I refuse to work for an exploitive, capitalist system and allow them to steal the surplus-value I produce," and then starving to death in the street. It's silly to ignore things that have a real effect in the real world. This doesn't mean give up. It means that sometimes we just have to do the best with what we have.
In the meantime, I'm going to do what I can to promote a true alternative. As for your comments about my politics and whether they're radical or not, don't be smug. I'm a damn site more radical than any Green Party that runs a reformist capitalist for president.
