Canada's policy

Actually, Canada does not have the death penalty. People are merely given many, many, life sentences in prison. What really sickens me though is that for Paul Bernardo, convicted rapist, abuser, murder etc... they are not only not executing him, they are giving him his own private cell along with private excercise equipment and leisure items because the rest of the prison population would kill him if they had the chance. It is costing Canadian taxpayers over $50,000/year. For all you socialists out there, that is $50,000/year that isn't being spent on social programs.
