: MDG and SDF brought up the issue of the death penalty below. What do people on this board feel about it. Personally, I'm in favor of it for the most heinous crimes, although I don't feel strongly one way or the other. :People who do bad things deserve bad outcomes; it's not fair that a mass murderer should merely lose hifs freedom, for teh poor in our soicety are largely without freedom as well; how honorable is it to a poor homeless man if we make him life his life in the same misery as a callous child murderer. To differentiate different degrees of evil is why I think we shoudl have the death penalty.
I don't understand why you would even consider it right to kill someone. Because that's what you're saying, it's okay to kill someone if they have don't something wrong. One could argue that you, in your support of the death penalty, agree to murder in cases that often do not concern you. Does it make you feel good that people are being slaughtered on the basis of idealists like you? Does it give you some sensation of power that you have the right to decide who will live and who will die? Is that not the mind of the murderers you seem quite like? How the hell do people like you live knowing that you support every case of capital punishment without hearing them all?
You speak of 'violent crimes' involving rape, racism, and discrimition on the basis of sexual preference. Do you also support the actions of NATO, and your military? Should not all these people be put to death also, based on the crimes they have hidden in war? Or is it more of a case of "The President Says It's Okay."
People like you americans discust me. I do not see the point in killing someone no matter who they are or what they've done. What does murder accomplish? Is it purely so society never has to look at the faces of the unloved? Or is it just another silly power trip that you yanks play. Kill or be killed, is that the motto of your legal system, because that hardly seems like justice.
I appreciate that you would like to consider yourself relatively bilateral, but you still support the death of people, which by definition is murder.
What about those who are found to be innocent after their death? Do you feel any remorse towards them when you express those ideals?
