Think it through, Kraz. You're advocating sending the money to Washington first so they can feed themselves with some of it. Tell me you think that's a good thing. If charity is to ever be a good thing, it must come with a sense of obligation to the recipient. Without reconciling the givee and the giver as is the case with centralized federal programs, there is no social obligation or reponsibiblity learned and charity then fosters poor character in both the recipient and the redistributor. Note the adamant and monolithic response to cutting any social program - even antiquated ones. As far as I'm concerned, one can lump social workers and welfare/medicare/medicade recipients in the same dependency class. This shouldn't be construed to suggest that I find every person receiving something or every social worker as having poor character. But neither should you suggest that these programs have come anywhere near their ostensible purpose.
Massive centralized charity is rarely effective in solving problems and more aften than not, causes far more problems than it solves. This fact should appear as a dark cloud to any socialist and one must wonder which direction they are looking at times.
