Yes, but as you point out in the post you link to, a fear of losing what they already have may, or may not, incite people to seek a change. I think that it's a truism to say that a happy citizenry does not seek to overhaul their government. And it can't just be a coincidence that the high point of socialism's popularity in the US was during the Depression.
I still think that the greater the social injustice becomes, the greater the chance that people will realize something is fundamentally wrong.
