A Note of Caution

: Lately we've been talking about Vietnam on this board, so in a fortunate coincidence, tonight on PBS (public television in the USA), they are showing "Regret to Inform," a documentary about the Vietnam War, and war in general. PBS (aka the Petroleum Broadcasting Service) almost never does anything right. The last Vietnam series I saw was around 1989 and it was remarkably candid about the evils of the French occupation, much less so about U.S. atrocities. It had a liberal bent to it, to be sure, but just enough of one to make you feel like America was a victim. That and the other myths about the war such as it was ended because middle -class kids started putting daisies in National Guardsmen's rifles.
