A nutty anecdote

While anecdotes do not an argument make, they are a form of evidence:

Some years back while canvassing for ACORN in Boston, a group dedicated to helping the poor (and at that time, fighting Reagan), I experienced the following: we collected far more money from working class houses than we did from those in the wealthier burbs. With the exception of a few wealthy leftists who gave bigtime (who often invited us in for tea, etc., bless their liberal hearts), the poor folk were far and away more willing to give us a few dollars (when they weren't calling us commies and sicking their snarling german shepherds on us -- true story, and before that, I never knew I could fly!).
