Hentoff has become a bitter old man.

I have great respect for Nat Hentoff, but he's become a bitter and frustrated old man. He is correct that the mainstream liberal-left has overlooked Clinton's egregious gutting of the Bill of Rights, but Hentoff forgets that alternative leftists have a damn hard time getting their views publicized (as Hentoff once did, being consigned to the discrete niche of The Village Voice).

Hentoff is also pissed to the gills that the Left has not embraced his anti-abortion stance. His anger at his fellow lefties is such that he has practically stopped criticizing the beasts of the right in order to obsessively clean every last corner of his own house. He needs a vacation.

Lastly, Hentoff does not speak for the Left, only himself.
