Spirituality and awareness of the worlds inside and outside you, your soul and that of other living things on this planet is basically what we are here to achieve. Consumer goods are a distraction from this goal. They are acceptable in very small quantities, but should not be a goal in themselves. Socialism is the extension of compassion, which can be truly discovered by making yourself aware of the feelings of others and their similarity to ours. It is (a) the recognition that material goods are next to worthless and (b) everyone has a right to enough to live moderately comfortably on, without over consuming and destroying the environment and the lives of other beings. None.
