You fail to realize that it is the mental labor that really makes or breaks a persons career (coupled with motivation and discipline). : Above is an erroneous assumption that there is an UNLIMITED capacity (in the dominant social relations that characterize the capitalist mode of production) to accomodate EACH person qualified to 'work smart.'
: This is like saying that if EVERYONE was 'smart' enough to be a boss, work would no longer require ANY workers.
What you have failed to realize is that our standards are constantly rising and there always seem to be people who are above average. In the next twenty years, the minimum education that people will need to function in society will probably be far greater (this will probably come about with the advent of new technologies).
