Indeed. The problem seems to lie with a mix of what it means for our ability to control our personal lives and what it takes to develop the skills which people in society want.

I might entertain a week a month as tolerable in a practical sense (ie there would be a loss / inefficiency but one could adapt and get on with it), but if forced upon the person by a nominally democratic process but against her wishes- unacceptable in any other sense
