: : To accept that there are no objective values, is to deny the reality of human experience, the 'cry of pain' that EVERY human soul admits (to paraphrase simone weil) when some atrocity is commited against them.

: : Well, out of time...

: : Thankyou and goodnight.

: Just a minor point. Hindus and Buddhists (at least a large number) actually believe that ANY animals might hold the soul of a decesed human being. Cows were sanctified in India for largely economic reasons (don't want to soudn like a hidebound Marxsit, but still). The ancient Hindus used a lot of milk products and plowing labor, hence cows were an exceedingly valuable resource. (Also their dung was sued as fuel). To them the cow was quite literally, a gift from God and to kill such a gift woudl be not only nonsensical economically but would also be sacrilegious. When someone gives you a nice gift you don't destroy it.

: Thank you for your post.

I do understand what you are saying but it is okay to kill cows because you are right it is a gift from God and we should use it. God does not mind that we eat cows, as a matter of fact that is why he gavethem to us not only for milk or plowig but to eat their meat also.
