I am a councillor who doesn't want a drive-thru McNightmare on the edge of my once charming town. (Or in it, but we ve got to fight this on purely planning grounds, and everyone's desperate for anyone to open up in Penzance, since we've so many empty shops.)
I have written to Gummer - see letter (http://www.mcspotlight.org/campaigns/current/residents/penzance/gummer.html) - with a summary of relevant points. I may have missed something, but other objectors may get on-line and mention relevant points I've forgotten. Please read the letter and, if you can help, respond asap. Letters to Gummer about circular 8/93 and its effect on local democracy could help. Do we want multi-national capitalists dictating the shape of our lives? (Yes, I know they do. Isn't it time we said Enough?)
