: In France, farmers have been dumping manure outside McDonalds outlets and vandalizing a new one under construction. I will not cheer anyone who participates in the willful destruction of property even if I perceive their cause to be just. It's juvenile. And to cheer these farmers, who are not on a moral crusade but instead safeguarding their profit margins (the real motive is always the selfish one) is similarly childish.
If we really want to argue about Frankenfoods lets toss out all agriculture anyway. After all, no food produced in quanities in artificial environments (ploughed fields) by unnatural means (irrigation, crop rotation, fertilization) can be natural in the strictest sense of the word. Let's all hunt twigs and berries instead.
What this boils down to is a dispute of interests between two parties who produce like results with different methods. Now normally I'd stand apathetic on this one... but the farmers' behavior goes beyond fair competition and intrudes into the realm of the criminal.
String them up and burn their fields. Ruin their investment of time, money, and energy. Now why aren't any of you cheering now? I thought you loved infantile behavior?
