Here in Southeast Virginia we have a nutcase that dresses as a chicken and gets on roofs of McDonalds and utters and squawks "Did somebody say McDonalds?" Not sure what the chicken represents, but I figured it must have been a protest against eating beef, so I got a 20 piece Chicken Mcnugget in addition to my Big Mac. While I don't eat at McDonalds often. (I prefer The Whopper at Burger King), I believe that protest of this nature actually have the opposite intended effect. I've heard many responses like "Hey, that makes me want to eat more" or when A.L.F. damaged a local butcher shop, many people in our community rallied together and patronized his establishment, thus, increasing his buisiness, and insuring his welcome existence in our fine community.. Protests of a calm, law abiding nature are the key to changing some people's minds. Violent, silly, and illegal protests almost always have a positive effect for the establishment that the protesters rally against.... Additionally; PETA rakes in over $13 million each year from animal lovers who donate to "help the animals." Yet in 1995, PETA gave less than $5,000 to direct animal assistance in the U.S. The bulk of the money PETA raises goes to high profile publicity campaigns and shenanigans designed to draw media attention.
