A McSpotlight volunteer replies: It's probably lucky you're not our lawyer then isn't it, because otherwise this site would be yet another place where the views of those opposing how society is currently run were censored to fit the way society is currently run [follow that?]. McSpotlight was set up with the intention of providing a forum for information and views that were being censored by the mainstream media.
Funny how it's illegal to paint a message on a wall opposing capitalism, or a multinational, but it's legal and fine for companies to stick posters advertising their wares all over the subway and bus shelters, walls in our neighbourhoods etc. How it's legal for a corporation to make millions by exploiting thousands of young people, yet it's illegal for a worker to help themselves to food, even when it's going to be thrown away. Funny too how it's legal to keep chickens in cages where they can't even spread their wings, yet it's illegal for someone to release the chickens from that cruelty.
McSpotlight encourages people to stand up for what they believe in, and provides a source of information and leaflets for people to distribute. Beyond that I'm not sure that all the various volunteers in different countries would necessarily agree on what tactics they find acceptable. The fact that a message gets posted in the debating room obviously does not mean McSpotlight is advocating that tactic or agreeing with the message.
My personal belief is that whether something is legal or illegal is largely irrelevant, what's far more important is whether its morally right or justifiable. At the end of the day the only time oppressive laws get removed is when people start defying them in large numbers.
