I used to go to live in Dachau for quite some time, and I have to put some things right here. The McDonald´s store is in fact about one mile away from the concentration camp site. It was not built to meet the needs of hungry tourists. There is a "Gewerbegebiet" (don´t know - commercial park? supermarkets, suppliers, car parks, larger plants) near the former concentration camp where McDonald´s built the restaurant. Noone is forced to go there, but a lot of esp. American tourists do so. I do not in the least sympatise with any racist theories whatsoever, but Americans do tend to reduce Dachau to Nazism and the Camp and forget about their own history and present.
