:Could you be specific about where the people are dying, and how many of the 40 million are dying in each place?The number 40 million people, I have been given from NORAD(Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation). Unfortunately I have not yet found out excactly how many dying in each place. But I can however provide some ideas.
This I have collected from the IMF;
Who Are the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries?
A group of 41 developing countries were classified as being the heavily indebted poor countries. This included, for analytical purpose, 32 countries with a 1993 GNP per capita of US $695 or less and 1993 present value of debt to exports higher than 220 percent or present value of debt to GNP higher than 80 percent. Also included were nine countries that received, or were eligible for, concessional rescheduling from Paris Club creditors. However, any other country meeting the requirements of the Initiative could be considered for HIPC assistance.
The group of 41 countries comprised: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Honduras, Kenya, Lao PDR, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia.
