: : : I thought this was a pretty clever post from another website regarding christianity (of course I'm going to hell just for having noticed it. Ah well.) :: : : "Fundamentalist (legalist) Christians are working on getting laws passed to "return" the U.S. to "Christian morality". If they succeed to the degree they desire, they will, in effect, BE the government. On the other hand, we are hearing how the End-times will have the government forcing people to "accept the mark of the beast" in order to get food, fuel, etc... If both of these scenarios do come into being, would that not make the legalistic Christians into "the beast" they so adamantly warn against?"

: : The modern 'Christians' are Neo-Pharisees and we all know that Jesus didnt actually have much kind words for them dont we?
: Piper: actually lark, there is a book by a pharisee, called (i think) the 'the testamentsof the 12 patriarchs' (written between 109 & 107 BC) which contains ethical teachings very similar to the gospels (read between the lines: jesus et al plagiarised it!).
Yeah, I know, hee, hee, hee, but dont tell anyone.
Seriously though, Jesus, it could be interpreted by any rationalist, was just a well versed Jew, there are precedents in the Jewish faith for everything he wrote.
The supressed gospels probably shine more light on this whole thing.
None.
