: : (To be honest, in the flesh, Terry's a short, balding middle-aged man who is perennially slightly grumpy; but he writes well, which is what matters...): You wherent the guy on the televised book signing with every book he'd ever written, plus the maps, plus the artwork and the gimics dressed in full wizard garb with the pointy hat?
Yegods no. I'd never dress up in silly outfits; *certainly* not if TV cameras were going to be involved; and since I tend to get the books signed as soon as they're published, I don't take along more than one or two at a time.
I remember the filming of that programme, though; it was at Forbidden Planet on New Oxford Street in December 1996; the TV crew picked out all the 'weirdos' and ignored everyone else; they seemed (however subconsciously) to be trying to further the image of Pratchett readers as 'socially-challenged uglies with no dress sense'
: He was being really grumpy with that guy, I mean dont turn up to a book signing if your going to huff about having to do it.
He does that to *everyone* to a lesser or greater extent; there's very little change in his tone of voice; his choice of words merely becomes more acidic...
Gideon.
