: : In today's newspaper, it was reported that an Oklahoma man who raised red deer (a particularly large kind of deer) for their flesh and antlers bled to death after being fatally gored in the groin.

: : Ha.

: Hey, MDG-san

Yes, grasshopper?

: It's Bill from the fightin' room. The air is quite different in here, isn't it?

Look closer, Bill: the humidity you feel is blood hanging in the air.

:So, what's the difference between a vegan and a veggie.

Vegans have larger penises.

Actually, a "vegan" is someone who abstains from ALL animals products, including eggs and dairy, whereas vegetarians may eat either eggs, dairy, or both (one who includes eggs is called an ovo-vegetarian, one who includes dairy is a lacto-veggie, and those who eat both are called ovo-lacto-vegetarians. Now, aren't you happy you asked?

By the way, ignore those who call themselves pesco-vegetarians or poultro-vegetarians (fish and poultry, respectively); they are not vegetarians, just confused omnivores.

: (I'm a functional vegetarian, meaning that's all I eat but will make allowances for special occasions such as dinner at someone's house).

I'm a dysfunctional vegan; if I go to someone's house and there's meat on the table, I'll throw the table upside down and stomp on the remains.

: By the way, in the under 25 years that McDonald's has been in Japan, it has changed the dietary habits of the young much to their detriment. And did you know that Kentucky Fried Chicken somehow managed an advertising campaign which claimed that the American tradition on Christmas was to eat fried chicken? This too caught on like wildfire here and, if you want your "true American" Christmas in Japan, you have to put in your order at Kentucky Fried Chicken ahead of time. Some people do it in November!

*shaking my head* Well, you know what they say: it pays to advertise!

Me and my honey (er, sweetheart -- as a card-carrying vegan, I'm supposed to avoid honey) are going away for the weekend, but when I get back, I promise that, sooner or later, I'll email you my veggie saga. Until then, sayonara!

: McSpotlight: "...the reason Japanese people are so short and have yellow skins is because they have eaten nothing but fish and rice for two thousand years"; "if we eat McDonald's hamburgers and potatoes for a thousand years we will become taller, our skin become white and our hair blonde". - Den Fujita, president of McDonald's Japan, speaking in the mid '80s

Hey vey!
