I've heard about all this genetic engineering as well and it has caused some concern I just cant understand how some people can simply trust business, trust the 'market', etc. it's so, so naive.

They employ a logic that says the state has no right to interfer in peoples lives but then excuse the market when it does the exact same, often more severely.

They employ a logic that says the state and democracy are dangerous because people are such corrupt self serving bastards and then pretend that the market isnt the exact same.

To me it doesnt even seem like a political or ideological issue, it's a matter of reason and logic.
