: Indeed! I strongly advise you not to move to, or even visit the States, Lark, you wouldn't like what's happening to science education over here! It frightens me.Tell me about it!! I've got friends who are evangelical protestants with the Christian Union/Christian Fellowship movement (they try and set up associations commited to the interpretations of the bible and religion I hate, it's all very pharisitical with the conform or burn in hell, fear God he's a bit of banine despot and literal truth nonsense) and I get book references from he which are accounts produced by these real, real loonies from the states.
I mean one 'core' text begins by asking why do people believe scientists, right, but doesnt challenge the evidence at this stage just the fact that people trust scientists, and why do they trust scientists? That's right because they wear white coats!! It only gets worse from there, I only hope that God really does help these people because they are intellectually really, really backwards today it's this tommorrow the weathermen will be on the TV's praying for rain so that crops, which can't be sprayed etc. because that's not how it was in creation, dont fail.
