When the Jew refered to it being spherical they meant it was round, like a dish, I seem to remember it was suspended by something but I'm not exactly sure what.

This doesnt effect my original question of why literal truth is taken from some texts while others are treated as allegory and they are written in the same style.

I've never understood why it has be continually reproven as true, whether it is factual or not is a little peripheral in my opinion it's really the messages, logic and advice that's important but then I've probubly got secular socialist baggade.
