Humans were once bred to be slaves; did that make it alright?

So animals are bred for labs, and what? Does this make them less feeling, less capable of suffering, less like your dog or cat? Humans were once bred to be slaves; did that make it alright?

While we may benefit in some ways from animal testing, it is still cruel. Evil means do not justify good ends.
