Mike,I've been involved in animal rights since 1985. I've heard everything by now, both pro and con. Seeing this guy's site -- and his insulting portrayal of something in which I believe deeply -- is more than unnecessary.
I have an ethical opposition to human abuse of animals, an no matter how you sugercoat it, or even for that matter, try to make it humane, killing animals for food or experimentation is abuse. And please, drop your use of "alleged" cruelties in modern slaughterhouses. Any objective person would find what goes on in factory farms to be cruel.
It may interest you to know, however, that the one area I'm ambivalent about is hunting (for food; sport hunters can all drop dead). Deer and other so-called game animals are at least given the opportunity to live freely, and as nature intended, before being killed by a man; nature is merciless, and animals kill each other for food. I would rather not have men hunt animals for food, however -- I'd rather see people always treat animals with kindness and charity. However, while I may actively protest many things, I don't protest hunting for food.
None.
