It's not a choice

As a gay man, I can quite honestly say that I do not know anyone that would choose to be gay. It is difficult to grow up knowing that there is something different about you. Through-out high school you try to fit in but you are simply not interested in chasing girls. In Western society, particularly in sport-loving nations like USA and Australia, your social standing during your formative years seems to be determined by how many girls you sleep with or how many sports you play. For those of us that are straight-acting it is less difficult, however, the pressure is still there. Countless times I have wished I was hetrosexual. Sexuality is not defined by your actions. It is defined by your feelings. To be accepted by god it is not enough to stop practicing. It would also be necessary to supress or somehow change your feelings. If your favourite colour is blue and always has been, but you dislike green. how can you consiously change your favourite colour to green. Most gay men have had sex with women in an attempt to try to be 'normal' and many of them have been unable to perform sexually because they were simply not stimulated. Sexuality is not a choice and anyone that disagrees should think hard about what genetic traits they have that they perhaps wish they didn't. I'm not saying that gay men sit around their entire lives feeling sorry for themselves. Many of us find partners and live long and happy lives. The suggestion that homosexuals cannot find Utopia, Xanadu, Heaven, or whatever spiritual place of rest you believe in is misguided and elitist. I'm sure God is extremely displeased at what mankind has let religion evolve to. If you beleive in God and the Bible you must admit that through-out history the Holy Book has been mis-interpreted even the tiniest little bit. We are all different and it is not our responsibility to try and shape other people's lives. Let each person be the master of their own destiny.
