Beginnings: The Big Lie

I haven't read through this thread yet, but I can't resist an immediate response to this post.

I'm facinated with this concept of the universe having no beginning.
How can something have ALWAYS existed, and yet, how could something have NOT?

And why is it that its so much easier to imagine a thing having no ending than it is to imagine it having no beginning? There IS something really wierd about this apparent bias. Where does this bias come from? Indeed, why the obsession?
