: Beef jerky is strips of dried beef, preserved with salt and spices. In North America, it was made by Native Americans, and the name was "chirquoi" or something like that. However, the was interpreted as "jerky" by the unrefined ears of western settlers. Now, with commercially produced beef jerky, the beef is also laden with chemical preservatives, to the point that even cockroaches won't eat it.

Thanks Hugh, I wonder if they'd stock it in Tescos, I suppose it wont matter Wal Mart will be here soon.
