: Your pentagon dismisses and resists any commitment of troops to the crisis in East Timor. Are you doing all that much? Why is East Timor not in you political and military interest? Even if Indonesia accepts foreign troops, you won't act quickly. Even though it is vital. Ever since Vietnam you have regarded Southeast Asia as out of your interests, and too far away. Yet you would fly all the way across the gulf to suppress one nation, how much more does it cost to free a nation from malicia violence? Certainly you wouldn't have to use any of you multi-million dollar weaponry, which could be sold to pay off your deficit.
But what about our sons and daughters. Would we have to use them?
: You claim to be the centre of the world, you selfish pigs, why do you only respond when it suits you the best?
We are still recovering from Vietnam, the wounds are still fresh. Believe it or not our government is beholding to the voters and Americans cringe at any suggestion of troops being sent in.

McSpotlight: Odd, that the U.S.'s sons and daughters become an issue when they might get shot; yet the U.S. (and the UK) have been supplying Indonesia with the weapons they have been using to commit genocide in East Timor for the last 20 years. Since the illegal invasion of East Timor on the 7th of December 1975, the Indonesian army has killed 200,000 Timorese; all of whom were someone's son or daughter.
Up until 1992, the US Government trained Indonesian officers; they remain the major suppliers of arms to the Indonesian government; and the invasion originally took place with the blessing of the US (and the UK); President Ford and Henry Kissinger were in Jakarta (capital of Indonesia) less than 24 hours before the invasion.
Have a look here; without the willing and informed co-operation of the US, UK and Australia, Indonesia would not have been able to kill a third of East Timor's population in 24 years...
