Shaun: I live in New York, and yes, I see pictures of a white Jesus everywhere too. All those artists who painted Jesus hundreds of years ago (Da Vinci for example)were white, so maybe the only reason why they painted Jesus as white was because that's how they pictured him since they were white..........
DDN: But why did they have to depend on their IMAGINATION to determine what color to paint him? Didn't they know what part of the world he was from? Did they also believe that Jesus was born in France or Italy?
Also, to try and attribute all existing images of white jesus to European Reniasance artists is a downright insult to intelligence. I'm sure there are millions pictures of white jesus that were printed just in the last week. Just yesterday a Jehova's Witness handed me some pamplets and every biblical character in them is portrayed as caucasian. To suggest that these pamplets are hundreds of years old or even that the cheesy drawings are all reprints of famous renaisance paintings is just plain old dishonest.

Shaun: ....In all likelihood, since he was from Israel he was probably the same color as today's middle-easterners, which is slightly darker than white. Who ever said that everybody who painted Jesus was even a Christian? I say it again-nobody knows exactly what he looked like. It doesnt say in the Bible. And it really doesn't matter either because He died for everybody and we are all brothers and sisters in the Lord.
DDN: Well if it doesn't matter then why don't Euro/American christians just render him as the color that he most likely was....BROWN?! Why distort reality? Just for the hell of it??? If it doesn't matter how we portray him then why not render him as an obese, fat lipped, Aunt Jamima black woman slurpin down a bowl of grits? Or how about a green, irregularly shaped, glow in the dark blob driving a spaceship?
Also, we are NOT all brothers and sisters "in the Lord". According to you, most of us are, in all likelyhood, going to eternal hell when we die because we can't understand the Bible. So maybe it damn well DOES matter what color Jesus was.
It matters AT LEAST to the extent that it affects how he his portrayed in modern times since white people have depended so heavily on a WHITE jesus to elevate themselves above other races.

DDN: Maybe, but even THAT would be a dishonest (or at least uneducated) statement since it is not merely a "possibility" but, in fact, a STRONG LIKELYHOOD that Jesus was not white.

DDN: Until we all see him? I assume you mean when he reincarnates here on earth, correct? Why do you think he would be the exact same color as he was in the first incarnation? That would seem nearly impossible.
The variables that go into a persons exact color at any given point in time are staggering: the genetics of the parents, exact longitude and latitude of the persons residence, the climate during any particular year at those coordinates, the amount of ultraviolet radiation reaching the skin from the sun, diet, falling asleep in a tanning booth one day, etc.
