the venemous and unjust 'Not proven'

The distinction is made best in Scotland, where there are three porrible verdicts- Guilty, Not Guilty, and the venemous and unjust 'Not proven', if found not guilty you are innocent, if found not proven, well, they just dunno...

There did use to be only two verdicts in Scotland, Proven or Not Proven,(How's that for good logic and an admission of falability) until a jury was so incensed at a trumped-up charge that they insisted on delivering a not guilty verdict. Since then the matter has been cloudy but isn't that just like people all over ?
