Well Daddio, i think your post mopre or less summed up christianity, a mass of confusion. You see, the thing is christians don't actually UNDERSTAND their religion.
Why do they not understand? Because christianity is at base incomprehnsible. Some christians might even agree with this and point you towards some sort of great esoteric mysticism.
But i was always taught that if something doesn't make sense, one should reject it, as a question of logic. This perhaps is the curse of our age, the loss of mystery and the ascendency of reason (or to quote Yeats:
'The woods of arcady are dead,
and over is their antique joy;
Of old the world on dreaming fed;
grey Truth is now her painted toy').
But then if the choice be between christianity and science, i would take the latter every time.
