: :: You are only right to the extent that you are honest about not being repelled by a homosexual advance. I'm just not buying your line Deathy.
: :: I think you are repelled by it. Perhaps I think that because I am too unimaginative to consider other mindsets. We can leave it there if you like.

: : Erm, isn't RD the best authority on whether RD is repelled by something?; in which case you are basically accusing him of misrepresentation; either for deliberate effect or because of simple self-ignorance.

: RD could possibly be wishing to appear sensitive, cosmopolitian, and PC and at the same time win an argument with me. That's double motivation.

You are accusing him of misrepresentation, then. Why don't you just come out and say "you're lying!"; rather than tiptoe around with all the false niceties?

: : The only purpose in being here is to debate; either you accept that people are telling what they see as the truth or you don't; if you don't, there's really not a lot you can say, since you cannot know anyone else's opinion except by what they write.

: Thanks. Does that apply evenly throughout?

Of course it does. I only know you by what you post; thus to engage in any meaningful debate, I have to proceed on the assumption that you are speaking the truth as you see it.

: : Just accept that a) RD is telling the truth and b) although he doesn't take propositions up, he isn't particularly offended either. It may be incomprehensible to you; that doesn't mean it's incomprehensible to him. Personally, I find the idea of a God inconceivable; I, however, can accept that you do not.

: : "no! no!, you think that you think God exists, but you don't really believe"; ludicruous, no?

: Check my wording on this Farinata. I said his statement is true if he is honest. This allows that if he is being honest, I concede his point. I don't have to believe him but the statement grants due dignity to him while he shakes his head and walks away.

Check your wording; your language is supremacist; if he's telling the truth, you'll allow him to retreat graciously; which implies directly that you are occupying the superior position, but will permit him his odd ideas, as he appears to find them interesting. A pretty patronising attitude, Stuart.

In so doing, you render his original statement true;

"You judge the hearts and minds of others- just you're subtle enough about it..."

By trying to argue the point in such a fashion, you prove the original point of contention to be true; making your position untenable; congratulations, you just defeated yourself in an argument...

(Deathy has never said or implied that his ideas are *more* valid than yours; merely that his ideas should have equal status to yours and that some of your assumptions are plainly shot.)

I'm not pretending any moral superiority to you, but my logic is (apparently) a damn sight stronger.

: Mind that even if he is being honest it doesn't much change things. Even if Deathy doesn't recoil from a homosexual advance, that doesn't mean that most people wouldn't. Most people would.

Two points; you know this how? Did you conduct a survey, or are you just projecting your beliefs onto others?; you believe that you are right, ergo, all right-thinking people think as you do.

Secondly, given the long history of persecution and abuse that has been a staple of the Judaeo-Christian and Muslim religions, it's hardly surprising that a lot of people have been brought up to be homophobic; try checking some non-Christian cultures for a slightly less distorted view.
