: McSpotlight: Erm; the Body Shop uses products tested on animals, not to mention gelatin, in their products. They also use petrochemicals to produce luxury goods and are clients of Shell. Instead of trying to consume greener, why not just try to consume less luxury goods? What is it that Shell does that is bad? I know there is something because it was implied here by McSpotlight, and my brother said that he doesn't like to buy from Shell for some reason, except he forgot what the reason was. So what is wrong with Shell? Do they harm animals or pollute the environment or something? (Well we all pollute the enviro by buying petrol and using cars)

McSpotlight: Well, first off, they produce oil. This sin't great, but yes, we all use oil in this current society.
However, what they also do is support the Nigerian government's repression of the Ogoni people; it was the protest against this environmental destruction wrought by Shell that led to the Nigerian government's execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight other Ogoni anti-Shell activists.
See here for our page on what's wrong with Shell.
