L: I'm getting tired of defending people who are being ethnically cleansed, Qx: You shouldn't be. After all, it could be you next.
L: especially when it appears that the normally sane people are the ones unhappy with intervening on their behalf.
Qx: Let's not forget that normally sane people are quite content to forget the role of the IMF in all this. We can all cheer for the ultra-nationalist side that will allow IMF policies to be dictated to them as opposed to the ultra-nationalist side that won't allow IMF policies to be dictated to them. Wouldn't that be fun? Can you not see some underlying currents that presaged these events?
L: Right who all wants to move to log cabins in the hills arm ourselves to the teeth and wait until the threat is at the door. It might be a little late then but hell, it's kinda popular.
Qx: Now that's a bit silly. The Serbs aren't about to knock on my front door unless they happen to be a next-door-neighbor. As a matter of fact I've known a few Serbs personally and they are pretty good individuals as I know them. I also have known some Albanians. Same thing there. This is all in North America of course. I always keep in mind that John Belushi was of Albanian descent.
Now if you think I'm some sort of survivalist then you seem to have locked yourself into a log cabin in the hills of sorts. I really expected an intelkligent reply but maybe I should have known just from reading your exchqanges with bill. Getting caught up in the Balkan Hysterics Convention doesn't do it for me. How about you?
P.S.: Let's not forget the ordinary workers in these places. They might have a different story to tell.
None.
