- Anything Else -Abortion
I am infuriated with the seemingly ignorant views that I have found on teh web tonight. It is true that as soon as the egg is fertilised, although it seems like nothing, a life has begun. But quite frankly in many cases, abortion is an extremely sensible and necessary action. I agree that no abortion should be taken lightly and if it is just a matter of a couple who could afford both mentally and money wise deciding that they would rather have a baby a few months later, so why not have an abortion, i do not agree with this flippancy at all. But what about those severe cases. Those poor and innocent young girls that have been raped and impregnated? Surley you cannot expect these girls to go through pregnancy. I would certainly have less respect for someone who did have their baby under these conditions. Yes, ok it is true there is a life created, but firstly there is also many lives outside. It is not just this fertilised egg in existaence. If a 14 year old girl, with much potential to do well at school in this situation had a baby, Would it no ruin her life, her parents life and affect her close piers and siblings, not to mention the fertilised egg, which would be a constant reminder of something born out of hate and violence. I have heard the beliefs too that there is a silent scream as the new life inside a female dies, but surely it is better for this life that has barely begun to be ended rather than it is for several other lives to be ruined as well as it? I think that the answer to this would have to undoubtably be yes. After all surely quality of life counts for something, a life of hate cannot be worth much. Adoption can be used as an argument, but wahat about these poor young girls who through no fault of thier own, find themselves pregnant. Do they want to have a constant reminder of this event which has with no doubt affected them greatly? And at 14 yrs old do you really want to have the responsibility of a child somewhere in the world that you would naturally worry about constantly? There was only a story the other day of a women who tracked down her baby that she had had adopted when she was very young, only to find that it had died at the age of 6 from severe child abuse. I think that anyone who condems abortion and pushes for its illegalisation is severly arrogant, ignorant and we can only pray for them to be forgiven. None.
