What is clear is that many of us either try to follow the teachings of the Bible or do not believe any of it. I guess we will never really be able to square this. For me, human life is sacred and that includes a foetus. As for the question of capital punishment, in certain circumstances yes I would find it acceptable - I could execute someone like Hitler for instance and not lose any sleep - could we execute mass muderers - or are you saying that under no circumstances should evil people be executed ?
