: When one know there are a lot of problems in the world, would it be irresponsible to move to an island and live all by yourself (almost) and not caring about any of all the problems we have in our "modern world". What do you think? I think it would be nice to live on a small island, with a nice girl, and have a little house by the sea and not having any problems to get all the food that you need. Maybe I would have a small library and a telescope. I could bring a guitar and sit by the fire in the evening and play all the lovely Beatles songs. I'd like to go, but I want be a responsible person too...

: What do you say? Is it irresponsible?

: (Have you read "Fatuhiva". It's written by the norwegian writer and "explorer" Thor Heyerdahl. It's lovely! Everyone ought to read it. You feel like leaving...)

Hell no, if you could afford it, go for it! But if you had enough money to do that, you would also have enough to make some real change in the world, by another island and make it a neutral place for refugees, and anyone else who desired a different and secure way of life, you would have to set up just a few simple rules and let them have the place. Lets work on the rules part of it.
Besides, to live on a self sufficent lsland it would not mean you would even want to hide from the world, just interact with it under different terms. Agree?
