Day 273 - 03 Jul 96 - Page 22

  Q. Anyway, it does not really matter.

"Had a long talk with Marion via telephone. It appeared
that he was trying to change the content of the public
meeting to a subject that he wanted discussed".
       A. Yes.

  Q. And this is the important bit.

"It was generally felt that if he wished to do this he
should turn up at weekly meetings in person."
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you have any comment about that in relation to people
who did not turn up to meetings?
       A. Yes. Well, I can remember that at the time you did
used to, you were attending meetings rarely and you did
used to sometimes phone up just to see what was going on,
you know, find out what the group was doing, or to make
something or say something, and people used to say at the
meeting themselves "if he wants to be involved in the group
why does he not come along to meetings". That is the way
you are involved in the group, that is London Greenpeace,
the meetings, and it was felt, Dave, that you were, you
       know, detached from the group.

MR. MORRIS: Thank you very much. No more questions.

MS. STEEL: Okay. If you can just turn back a few pages to page
       116D?
       A. Yes.

  Q. It should have a little page 5 at the top. I think it is
       Mr. Bishop's notes.

  MR. RAMPTON: Date?

  MS. STEEL: 17th May 1990.

       "The young stockily built...."

       This is the third paragraph.

"The young stockily built man - who I actually think is
Mr. Pocklington - told the meeting of what had happened at
the last meeting the previous week. A film crew from
Goldsmith College making a documentary about anarchism had
arrived and spent some time filming Paul Gravett as a
       spokesman for such a group."

       And then:

"It was pointed out that the views expressed by him were
his own and not those of the group in general. This fact
seemed to be important to several of those present."

Does that surprise you that people said that?
       A. No, no, it does not.

  Q. Did the group have spokespeople?
