Day 273 - 03 Jul 96 - Page 20
Greenpeace?
A. No, no.

Q. Right.
A. The idea was that we would send one poster to them and
if they wanted them, they could photocopy more. I mean, we
did not have a huge stockpile of posters waiting to be sent
out.

Q. Okay.
A. But the idea was to get -- if the groups could not
produce their own posters for whatever reason, they would
have one there available to publicise their own events.

Q. Right. Okay. You said that you had a research file. Do
you remember?
A. Yes.

Q. That you were building up, I think, from 1987 onwards?
A. Umm.

Q. And what issues relating to McDonald's would that have
material about? Would it be just one issue or would it be
all of the issues in the fact sheet and indeed other issues
as well or what?
A. It would have been all the issues in the fact sheet
plus other newly emerging issues as well, and this was
another reason for my wishing to update the fact sheet, was
that there were new issues emerging of things to do with
global warming, the use of CFCs and things that were not
mentioned at all in the fact sheet, but the research file
covered all of them.

Q. Right. You said that you recall a letter sent to the group
regarding a proposed trip to Moscow or something like that?
A. Yes, yes.

Q. Mr. Rampton raised this matter towards the end of his
cross-examination?
A. Yes.

Q. If the letter was received by the group with a proposal --
A. Yes.

Q. -- for the group, what would happen to that letter?
A. It would have been read out, yes.

MS. STEEL: Just a couple of questions. You said that you did
not take any the fact sheets to the October 1989
demonstration although it was possible that somebody else
could have taken a few?
A. Umm.

Q. If I had been handing out the London Greenpeace
anti-McDonald's fact sheets throughout the whole or
throughout a substantial part of the 1989, October 1989
protest, do you think you would remember it or do you think
you would have noticed?
A. Yes, yes, I do, I do.
