Day 250 - 15 May 96 - Page 41
A. I would say about 6, 7 yards, something like that.

Q. 20 feet?
A. Something like that.

MS. STEEL: That was this leaflet was it?
A. That was that leaflet.

Q. Right.
A. A leaflet that looked like that. Yes.

Q. I do not mean the contact copy?
A. No, no, a leaflet that looked like that. Yes, it had
that cartoon on the front.

Q. OK. Then what happened?
A. You picked out some of the leaflets, and some to the
girl, to whom you were still talking. She moved off and
you walked from there to about the door, perhaps a little
bit further, which brought you up to the pavement or just
to the edge of the pavement.

Q. Did you watch me throughout this?
A. Yes, for about five minutes.

Q. Why did you watch me for five minutes?
A. I just simply did.

Q. Were you particularly interested in what I was doing?
A. Yes.

Q. Why was that?
A. Because I was looking to see whether either you or
Gravett showed any indication of taking a leading role,
directing things.

Q. Right. Presumably you did not see that?
A. No. In my opinion, you kept yourself very much to
yourself. The only person I really saw you in conversation
with was with the girl.

Q. Right. When you say that I moved over towards the
pavement, was that where you had previously seen Mr.
Gravett standing in the cow suit?
A. No, you were on the north side of the exit. There is a
vehicle exit there.

Q. Yes?
A. And there is a plane tree about ten feet north of
there. You were in between the plane tree and the vehicle
exit standing on this side of the pavement, so the public
passed in front of you.

Q. Right. So is Mr. Gravett on the bit of pavement that is
almost like an island?
A. Yes, yes, it is where cars and buses -- buses turn
round there, and cars use it as well for turning around and
going up and down the road.

Q. Mr. Gravett was standing apart from the main body of the
