possible, and then to go for a writ and hope that that
would lead to London Greenpeace agreeing to stop
distributing the leaflet.

Q. That is basically the usual procedure you go through?
A. That is the usual procedure -- with whom?

Q. With all the other groups that you have served writs on,
and people?
A. Yes, when we have served writs we have on occasions had
people say 'That is enough, we will agree. We will not
publish it any more.'

Q. So, were there any other ways in which you were intending
to stop distribution or was that it -- serve a writ which
either meant that there was a court case or that ----
A. Yes.

Q. Right.
A. They would either agree or we would go to court and
seek an injunction.

Q. How would the photographs help in that?
A. Well, the idea was to show the people who were on the
demonstration and that would be their starter for
identifying the people responsible for controlling
London Greenpeace. It a starter for them, that was all.
The rest was down to them.

Q. But you saw... Sorry, you saw the fact sheet being handed
out on this demonstration?
A. Yes.

Q. You were wanting to take legal action or some other kind of
action to stop the distribution of this fact sheet?
A. Yes.

Q. So would it not be the most sensible thing in the world to
get photographs of people handing out this leaflet?
A. Well, one, I did not want the photographer to know that
I was contemplating the action I was going to take, and all
I could do was say, 'Get photographs of people involved in
the demonstration.' I did not point them in any direction,
I did not point them towards any certain people, I just
say, 'Go and get photographs of as many people as you can
who are involved in the demonstration.'

Q. Do you not trust Mr. Carroll?
A. Yes.

Q. Why should you not want him to know you were contemplating
litigation?
A. Well, Ms. Steel, when you start an under-cover
operation the less people who know about it, if something
goes wrong the less people you have to blame. You keep it
to yourself.

Q. But was it not more suspicious to say to Mr. Carroll,
'I want you to get photographs of everybody on this
demonstration' for no particular purpose than it would be
