whether these are the exact ones, it is impossible to tell
now but I remember the incident.

  Q. Do you remember her telling you that she had found them in
one of the waste bins at the back?
       A. I believe that is what she said at the time, yes.

  Q. Do you remember telling her: "It has all been sorted out,
       do not worry about it"?
       A. I said that I would look into it. I cannot remember my
exact words at the time, but I said we would look into it
and find out what was going on.

  Q. Can you please turn to the adjustments? You can put the
originals down, Mr. Coton, because it is difficult to use
them; it is better if you use the copy which is in the
file. Can you please turn to the adjustments audit
report? You see it is dated 29th November 1990?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You see that the first batch of alterations has been done
by Adrian Brett, do you see that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. He seems to have clocked everybody out that he clocked out
at the same time, 10 past 11 in the morning, do you see
       that?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You see all the rest have been done by Sally Spurgeon?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The date, 29th November 1990, was before Mr. Neil Skehel
       became Supervisor, was it not?
       A. I cannot remember the date he took over, but I believe
       it would have been -----

  Q. 4th February 1991?
       A. Then it was before then.

  Q. This was done by Sally Spurgeon while you were Manager and
while Mr. Mark Davis was the Supervisor?
       A. That must be the case then, yes.

  Q. So this was done with your knowledge and authority, was it
       not?
       A. Not with my authority; I might have known that
       something like this was happening.

  Q. Did you ever use Sally Spurgeon's pass code yourself?
       A. No, never.

  Q. Have you had a chance to study these documents?
       A. Not in detail, no.

  Q. Then I am just going to take a few examples, if I may? It
would be convenient for you if you remove the adjustment
sheet from the file. If you would not mind turning to the
second page of the clock card file, then one can see what
happened. Can I ask you this first: Am I right that it is
