Day 189 - 20 Nov 95 - Page 23

  Q. If you go to 964, you can see here a letter, a memorandum,
about possible union activity at the O'Connell Street
       store?
       A. Yes.

  Q. That is the store you were working at, is it not?
       A. O'Connell Street, yes.

  Q. I am still actually trying to just look at pay and
conditions. But if you notice, at the bottom of the page,
it has something about "payroll errors"?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Do you know what that may be referring to?
       A. That may have been mistakes made on individuals' pay,
you know, like, that they got it wrong, that it was not
       accurate, yes?

  Q. Right. Was that something that was a concern of yours?
       A. Well, it was concern for people who, yes, who did not
       get it, yes, sure.

  Q. What is the number 3: "Our policy on sick pay"?
       A. Yes. There was not really a sick pay policy, as far as
       I am concerned.

  Q. Did you ever go sick?
       A. I did. After I had been in the freezer for 40 minutes,
I was sick for a couple of days after. But I think it is
just the State -- the State may have provided some, you
know, (inaudible). But there was nothing -----

  Q. Did you get paid for your period of sick?
       A. I do not think so. I do not think I did.

  Q. Point 5: "The crew room was too crowded, up to 15 persons
taking a break at one time." What does that refer to?
       A. That could have been, at certain times you were told to
       go off and take your break where there was a slack period,;
that could have been there was a large number of people
       told at that time.

  Q. And -----
       A. You were told, you know, to go at whatever time that
suited the management, like. You could have come in early
and you were told to go.

  Q. Sorry -- come in early?
       A. Take your break -- yes. You could have been working
maybe a couple of hours and you were told just to go and
take your break now, you know. I mean, you might not have
been working that long when you had to take it, you know.

  Q. And then you would have a long period ---
       A. Yes, a long period.

  Q. -- before you finished your shift? What about the crew
room being too crowded; do you remember anything about
       that?
       A. Yes, it was crowded. It was a smallish room. It was
