Day 169 - 04 Oct 95 - Page 08

Q. So in the last year you have not dismissed any
non-probationers, are you saying?
A. Well, I do not understand your question. Are you
talking to me or just talking as a store, or -----

Q. In the last year at the store have you dismissed any
non-probationers?
A. Yes.

Q. You have?
A. Yes.

Q. Right. So there was half a dozen of them -- that is what
you said yesterday.
A. No. The figure goes up and down. There is about,
I should imagine there is about six or seven probation --
people that have failed their probation review. I should
also imagine, perhaps, there is more than that, may be six
or eight that have been dismissed for other reasons. We
dismissed four in one particular incident so .....

Q. Was that while Mr. Logan was still working at the store?
A. No, because Mr. Logan finished on 9th November 1994.

Q. Dismissals do sometimes occur en masse, do they, like four,
rather than just one at a time?
A. The four people that were dismissed were dismissed for
giving away and receiving stolen property.

Q. Was that food from the store?
A. It was food from the store and it was also property
from a crew member within a store. They had forced his
locker open.

Q. All four of them?
A. Two of them forced his locker open and then went
downstairs and carried on working the shift. It was
discovered that they had forced his locker open. They
admitted forcing his locker open. They admitted to forcing
his locker open whilst they were being interviewed about
giving away food to two of their friends.

Q. So the other two were just done for giving away food?
A. No. The two that broke into the locker were dismissed
for -- they were actually dismissed for giving away food,
but whilst they were being interviewed for giving away food
to their two friends who were also dismissed for receiving
stolen food -----

Q. So they also worked for McDonald's, the friends they were
giving the food to?
A. That is right. Whilst they were being interviewed for
that, they admitted breaking into the locker of a crew
member earlier on in the day. That information was passed
to the Police who acted subsequently.

Q. The two who were receiving the stolen food, that was all
they were dismissed for?
A. They were dismissed for receiving stolen food, that is
