Day 168 - 03 Oct 95 - Page 11

  Q. I am going to go through a lot of questions, not in
necessarily the best order, but we might have to dodge
about a little bit. Just about your personal background,
you started at McDonald's when you were 17, nearly 18?
       A. That is right.

  Q. You were studying for your A levels at the time, was that
       your first jobbing?
       A. McDonald's? It was not my first job, no. I had worked
part-time in plenty of other places. I had done collecting
glasses; I had paper rounds; I had done shelf filling and
       such like.

  Q. This was your first full-time job once you started there?
       A. It was, yes.

  Q. Just a couple of things about the individuals that have
been mentioned. You said you did not remember a Graham
Picking. Danny Olive, the Floor Manager that resigned, and
he wrote a letter with a number of complaints which he said
       you saw.
       A. I did.

  Q. Did he write it to the store or did he write it to Head
       Office?
       A. He addressed to it to the Store Manager.

  Q. Right. You said that there was an investigation of the
       complaints?
       A. Internally, yes.

  Q. Yes, I mean internally.
       A. Within the store, yes.

  Q. You were involved in this investigation, were you? I mean,
       you were helping the investigation?
       A. I was not actually helping the investigation, no. The
investigation was carried out by the Store Manager. I was
just questioned on various aspects of it, as were the rest
of the Managers. We had a Managers' meeting and discussed
the allegations and then Phil went off and investigated it.

  Q. Right. You were the Manager who most often did the
       scheduling; is that correct?
       A. No.

  Q. In the store generally?
       A. No, I have not done the schedules since around 1992,
I estimate. I have not done the schedules at all since we
have been using the computer. The last time I did the
schedules was while I was a Second Assistant Manager which
must have been at least two years ago.

  Q. What particular areas of responsibility did you take on or
were you taking on in, say, 1994?
       A. Apart from my overall day-to-day responsibilities,
during 1994 I was responsible for the food cost -- that was
one of my goals -- and the training grade.
